The Trust’s members have rescued a considerable number of historic textile machines which would otherwise have been lost. These include looms, teazle raising gigs, milling machines etc. An early C19th cross cutting machine is also displayed at the centre completing the fascinating range of cloth finishing machinery on display. For details of the early C19th cross cutter being restored at Dunkirk Mills can be found here.

The change from hand shearing to mechanised cutting processes had a considerable impact upon the Stroudwater woollen industry.
